Lot's wife in Israel, Dead Sea resort
Rating: 9,1/10 (1433 votes)  Lot's wife is a natural pillar of rock salt. This pillar is located on Mount Sodom, in the southwestern part of the Dead Sea. In shape, indeed, this pillar resembles a female figure covered with a cape, which made it possible to identify it with the biblical story about the flight of the righteous man Lot with his family from Sodom, punished by the god. They were forbidden to look back at the dying city, but Lot's wife looked back, for which she paid by turning into a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26). It is more convenient to get to this area either by a rented car or by buses traveling to Eilat from Jerusalem.
