The pillar is quite unique and beautiful, it is included in the list of UNESCO protected sites. The pillar was erected in 1716 as a memory of the difficult times caused by the plague that took place throughout Europe. At that time, Plague Pillars were built in most cities as a symbol of victory over a terrible disease. Surprisingly, the plague fever passed by Karlovy Vary, in gratitude for this, people erected a pillar on which the Holy Trinity was depicted. Earlier people came to the pillar to pray, mourn the dead and rejoice that they were alive. The pillar of the Holy Trinity deserves attention not only as an architectural structure, but also as a reminder of terrible times. Karl Golzknecht and Dionysus Stanetti worked on the construction of the pillar. The pillar was made in a beautiful baroque style. On the pillar were depicted such patrons of the city as St. Barbara – patroness of the dying, Saint Roch, Saint Sebastian, Saint Francis Xavier and Saint Charles Borromeo.
