Maksimir Park is located in the eastern part of Zagreb. Its founder is Bishop Maximilian Vrchovac, after whom the park was named. There used to be an oak forest on this site, which was uprooted at the end of the 19th century and a beautiful park was created.

Maksimirsky Park is the largest park in Zagreb, it is also called the"living monument of Zagreb". It was created in the style of an English garden and covers almost 18 hectares.

The park has flower beds and alleys, forest areas and artificial clear lakes, so it is an ideal place for hiking. The park is rich in objects and monuments built in different styles. The Belvedere, the Swiss House, the Doorman's Hut, two pavilions have survived to this day: Echo Pavilion and Bellevue Pavilion, built in 1843. There are also several park sculptures in the park.

In addition, there is a small zoo in the Maksimir park, where local and exotic birds and animals are presented.

Opposite the park is the Dynamo football stadium, where international matches are held.
