Tomb of Ho Chi Minh – long-term leader of the communist Vietnam, is located on Ba Zin Square, where in September 1945 Ho Chi Minh declared the independence of Vietnam.

Before his death, Ho Chi Minh bequeathed to cremate his body and scatter the ashes over Vietnam. After his death in September 1969, Le Duan – the successor to the Vietnamese leader made a different decision. Ho Chi Minh's originally embalmed body was hidden in a secret location to keep him safe from bombing during the Vietnam War. After the end of the war in 1973, construction of a mausoleum began in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi. In August 1975, the mausoleum was inaugurated.

The tomb is a square-shaped structure, 41.2 meters wide, and ndash; 21.6 meters. A stepped tribune was built in front of the mausoleum, and a beautiful garden was laid out around it, in which about 250 varieties of plants grow, brought from different parts of the country. Ho Chi Minh's body is kept in a glass coffin located in the central hall.

The mausoleum is open to tourists from 9 am to noon. No photography inside.
