The Trevi Fountain is the largest fountain in the city. The building is 25.9 meters high and 19.8 meters wide.

The fountain was erected in 1732-1762 in the Baroque style. Nikolay Salvi became the architect of the project. The fountain adjoins the facade of Poli's mansion, in particular that belonged to Princess Zinaida Volkonskaya.

The fountain and the majestic facade of the mansion are perceived as a single whole. Neptune emerges from the central niche of the building, sitting on a huge sea shell, like on a chariot harnessed by seahorses and newts. On both sides of Neptune   there are allegorical figures with bas-reliefs above them. On the bas-relief on the right side you can see a young girl, pointing the Roman soldiers to the source. From this source an aqueduct was laid, which supplied the city with water. Subsequently, both the aqueduct and the source were named Acqua Vergine.

According to the legend, a man who threw one coin into the fountain will visit Rome again, two coins – prophesy a love meeting, three coins – marriage. The annual amount of money collected when cleaning the fountain is about 700 thousand euros.
