Photo and description

Alafuzov theater is located in the Kirovsky district of Kazan on the street. Gladilov. Previously, the Kirovsky district of Kazan was called the Admiralteyskaya Sloboda.

The building of the Alafuzov Theater was built in 1898-1900. The author of the project is architect L.K. Khrshchonovich. Funds for the construction were donated by the industrialist I.I. Alafuzov. He was the first industrial tycoon in Kazan. Alafuzov bought artisanal industrial artels located on the right bank of the Kazanka River. Together with a relative, he founded the "Partnership of a tannery on shares" and a flax spinning mill. He adhered to fairly progressive views. Thus, the Alafuzov theater built by him was initially called the Alafuzov palace. It housed a "people's house" and a school intended for workers.

The two-story theater building has a strictly symmetrical structure. Four low, tetrahedral domed towers are built at the corners of the facade. The previously existing dome in the center of the building's hipped roof was destroyed. The building is decorated with high arched windows on the second floor. In the auditorium, besides the parterre, there are two tiers of balconies. The building remarkably resembles the famous Alexandria Theater of St. Petersburg.

Until 1918, charitable events were held in the building, performances were shown by a troupe of amateur artists. From 1918 to 1924 the theater was called Zarechensky Workers' Theater. In 1924, a children's Tatar theater was formed there at the first demonstration Tatar theater. In 1932, the Youth Theater was created in the pioneer club. There were two groups in it: Russian and Tatar. The theater toured the regions of the republic. In 1950, the main part of the troupe was admitted to the Tatar Academic Theater.

In 1987, under the Ministry of Education, a children's theater was formed, which since 1998 has been called the State Tatar Youth Theater. It is this theater that is located in a building called the "Alafuzov Theater".
