Photo and description

The building of the Anatomical Theater is part of the complex of the Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University. It is located in the courtyard, on the back of the main university building. The building is used for its intended purpose. It hosts classes for university students.

The building of the Anatomical Theater was designed by the architect M.P. Corinth, founded in June 1834. A prayer service was served and the construction site was blessed with water. A copper board was laid at the base of the building, with the date of foundation of the building.

The building is designed in the classicism style. In the plan, the building is rectangular with a rotunda protruding on the facade. The rotunda is decorated with eight Ionic columns on a high base and a spherical dome.

E.S. Valishin describes, that the central part of the cathedral interior was a two-story auditorium in two lights, repeating the shape of the rotunda. The seats in the lecture hall were amphitheater. A glazed dome above it complemented the lighting. But soon the glazing of the dome was repaired. The wooden plank floor was replaced with a Metlakh tile. Following the example of other anatomical theaters, a choir with a colonnade and a lattice was erected along the inner semicircle of the second floor. The lattice was decorated with medical emblems cast from metal.

In 1847, a monument to G.R.Derzhavin was erected on the site in front of the entrance to the Anatomical Theater, which was later moved to Teatralnaya Square (now Svobody Square). The monument was destroyed in 1930 and rebuilt in 2003. It was installed in the park on the street. Gorky.

The Anatomical Theater housed the departments of pathological anatomy, theoretical surgery, operative surgery, and topographic anatomy. They were later transferred to their own buildings.

The building is in good condition and is a decoration of the university complex.
