Rating: 8,6/10 (800 votes) Charles Square, located in the southern part of Nove Mesto, is today the oldest and largest square in Prague. During the Middle Ages, it housed the Animal Market. The square was founded in 1348 by Emperor Charles the Fourth. The main attraction of Charles Square is the New Town Hall. The elements of the town hall are quite original. In the central part of the square there is the Church of St. Loyola, built in the early Baroque style, the architect of which was Lurago. Also noteworthy is the house of Dr. Faust, who lived in the city in the 1540s.
