The palace was located at the southern end of the Palatine, overlooking the Circus Maximus, and on the other side had a view of the forum. The Palace of Augustus was part of the imperial palace of Domitian, and was used as the personal residence of the emperors. The Augustow Palace was a two-storey building with a large courtyard and a beautiful garden around it.
