Byzantine Museum in Cyprus, Paphos Resort

An interesting collection of Byzantine icons, collected from monasteries and churches of the city's area, is exhibited here. The icons mainly belong to the XII-XIX centuries. Although one of the ancient icons - the icon of the Mother of God Eleusa dates back to the 7th - 8th centuries. This collection of icons reflects the religiosity of people in the Byzantine era. The museum also displays decrees, liturgical books, manuscripts, silver and wood items, priests' vestments, crosses, and so on.
