The Byzantine Museum and Art Gallery are located in the Archbishop's Palace. Archbishop Makarios II began to collect the collection. More than 150 icons have already been collected. The most ancient icons date back to the 8th - 9th centuries. Having looked through the collection of icons presented in the museum, one can trace the development of icon painting from the 8th to the 18th century in Cyprus. Of great value are the Litragoma mosaics, which magically survived the period of iconoclasm. There are also carved"royal doors" with an iconostasis, old frescoes, a rich collection of statues, maps, lithographs.
On the top floor there is an art gallery, which houses a collection of European painting of the 16th-19th centuries ... This collection is represented by paintings on religious themes.
