In 1159, Neophytos in search of a quiet secluded place, I discovered a cave with a source, which has two entrances. He blocked the eastern entrance and left only the southern one. He divided the cave into two parts, turning it into a monastic cell. He lived alone for eleven years. The Paph bishop persuaded Neophytos to take disciples for himself, and thus the saint had followers who created a monastery in this place. There were no more than 10 monks in the monastery. Now the relics of St. Neophytos are kept in the monastery, which every year attract many pilgrims. Twice a year, on the day of tranquility (January 24) and the day of the uncovering of the relics of St. Neophytos (September 28), folk fairs dedicated to the great saint and solemn liturgies are held here. The monastery is located the church museum, which displays a valuable collection of icons and fragments of frescoes from the 12th - 16th centuries.
