Rating: 8,7/10 (3055 votes) The Clock Tower was erected in 1496-1499. The author of the project was the architect Mauro Koducci. In 1500-1506, the side extensions were completed, according to the plan of Pietro Lombardi. In 1755, the superstructures were created by the architect Giorgio Massari. The tower is crowned with a flat roof, on which were installed two figures made of bronze, which for many centuries beat time every hour. The figures were created in 1497 by the sculptor Amoroggio della Ankore. Under the crowning element of the tower you can see a sculpture of a winged lion – coat of arms of Venice. Under the sculpture there is a ledge with a niche and doors on both sides. In the niche there is a figure of the Madonna and Child, made of gilded copper.
