Rating: 7,9/10 (367 votes) Palazzo Corner Spinelli is a palace in Venice located in the San Marco area on the Grand Canal. In our time, the palazzo is one of the best examples of Renaissance architecture in Venice. The palace was built in 1480-1500, the author of the project was Mauro Koducci. The architectural feature of the palace – double arched windows, rounded at the top and rusticated stone masonry on the first floor. At one time, the palace became the prototype for the construction of many buildings in the city. In 1542, the building was taken over by the Corner family. Under the new owners, the interior of the palace was completely redone. The work was supervised by the architect Michele Sanmichele. In the 19th century, Giuseppe Salom became the owner of the building – a famous Venetian collector, thanks to whom a significant collection of paintings by Pietro Longhi and other of his contemporaries was collected in the palace.
