The construction of the palace was carried out by a famous figure of the Thirty Years War – Generalissimo and Voivode of Friedland Albrecht of Wallenstein. Italian architects Nicolo Sebergoni, Andrea Spezza and Giovanni Pieroni were invited to design the palace complex. The construction of the palace was carried out from 1623 to 1629. The palace was built on the site where previously there were 22 residential buildings, a brick factory, Trchkov Palace and gardens. The basis of the ensemble – a three-story closed structure with courtyards, to which a stable wing was attached. The chapel of St. Wenceslas is decorated with themes from the life of St. Wenceslas. There is also an altar dating back to 1630, which was decorated accordingly – sculptural images and paintings from the life of this saint were made in the early Baroque style. Until 1945, the palace complex belonged to the heirs of Albrecht. Today it houses the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
