This palace was erected at the end of the Street of the Knights in the early 14th century. It served as a residence for 19 Masters. Some scientists believe that the temple of Helios used to stand on the site of the palace.

When the Ionites were expelled from the island, the palace was abandoned. But, despite this, it remained intact for a long time.

In 1856, due to an accidental but very strong explosion of powder stores, part of the palace and some nearby buildings were destroyed. Many people died.

After the First World War, the Italians seized power on the island. In the 30s, they restored the palace, turning it into the summer residence of Mussolini, but he never visited here.

Today, the palace houses a museum. It displays statues and vases, a collection of furniture from the 16th-17th centuries, mosaics from the Roman and Greek eras, as well as many other unique items. The building often hosts festivals, opera concerts, and classical music concerts.
