Rating: 8,4/10 (2943 votes) Leopold's Gate is the second entrance to the Vysehrad Fortress. Initially, the gate was the most representative structure in the system of fortifications in the XVII – XVIII centuries. The construction of the gate was carried out in the second half of the XVII century, according to the project of K. Lurago. The sculptural decoration of the gate was carried out by the famous sculptor Giovanni Passarini. The gate was built in the style of early Baroque classicism. The construction of the Leopold Gate was carried out during the reign of Emperor Leopold the First, in whose honor the gate got its name.
