The Powder Tower, also known as the Powder Gate, is located on Revolution Square in the Old Town, near the Public House, to which it is connected by a covered bridge.

The very first foundation stone of the tower was laid in 1475. The construction was supervised by the master mason Wenceslas. Initially, the gate was supposed to serve as one of the entrances to the Old City, but this plan was never implemented. Soon after the start of construction, the king was forced to return to Prague Castle, as he feared for his safety. The old palace and its surroundings quickly lost their significance.

Even in spite of the rich decoration, the gate was never completed. Later, a temporary roof was laid on the structure, after which it was used as a powder warehouse. Since then, the tower acquired the name Powder.

In 1757, during the siege of the city by the Prussian army, the tower was badly damaged, the damaged decorations were removed from the building in 1799.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the gate was restored and completed in a pseudo-Gothic style. Significant reconstruction was carried out here in 1878-1889, the work was supervised by the architect Josef Motzker, after which the tower acquired a new neo-Gothic style.

The tower is 65 meters high. The observation deck is located at a height of 44 meters, to which a spiral staircase leads. There is also a photo exhibition inside the tower.
