Palacio Guell in Spain, Barcelona resort
Rating: 8,3/10 (6589 votes)  This palace was commissioned by the famous personage Eusebi Guell, patron saint of the architect Gaudi. It stands on Carrer Nou de la Rambla in the Raval district. Guell Palace – this is one of the earliest creations of Gaudi. Construction of the palace lasted from 1885 to 1890. True, on the building itself it is indicated that the construction was completed by 1888. Apparently, in the last two years, the architect has been finishing up small details of the palace. This palace is not yet made in a typical Gaudi style. However, its individuality is already emphasized by the elaboration of the smallest details, as well as the combination of a strict structure and exquisite decor. The facade of the building was built of light gray stone, which is mined near the city. This stone has long been famous for its quality. The facade itself is very similar to the famous palazzo. For the passage of carriages, two round arches, decorated with iron, are made in it. Through a special window in the reception hall you could see who was coming to the palace. The vaults inside the building are flat, made in the Byzantine style. Together with the rest of Gaudi's works, this palace is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. In May 2011, restoration work was completed, which lasted almost seven years, and now the palace is already open to visitors.
