The Regional Archaeological Museum of Limassol is located next to the city gardens. The museum exhibits ancient finds found in the vicinity of the city from the Neolithic times to the Roman Empire. The park displays a sundial that once belonged to Lord Kitchenner.
Since 1951, the museum has been located in the castle of Limassol, and since 1975 it has been in the current building. The museum consists of corridors and three halls:
The first room exhibits archaeological rarities that have been found in the ancient caves of the southern part of Limassol. This room displays objects from the Neolithic period to the Roman period: stone idols and tools, pots without ornaments. In addition to the exhibits found in the vicinity of Limassol, artifacts from Kourion and Amathus are also exhibited here.
The second room displays ancient razors, Roman coins and jewelry dating from 1700 BC.
The third room displays the most valuable finds, such as the statue of Artemis, the statue of the Egyptian god Bes, found in Amathus, as well as fragments of other statues depicting different deities.
All the finds in the museum prove that the Cypriot culture was influenced by the Greek, Egyptian and other civilizations.
