Photo and descriptionLake Plavsko is located in the Montenegrin municipality of Plav, geographically in the north-east of the country. The peculiarity of the lake is that it is glacial. As a rule, glacial lakes form melting glaciers or snow-fir strata that overlap an entire glacier well above its recharge boundary. The larger the glacial lake, the, respectively, the larger the glacier that formed it was. Lake Plavskoe lies near the Prokletije mountain range, in the area of its northern slopes. The height above sea level of this glacial lake is almost one kilometer - 920 meters. The length of the lake is no more than three kilometers, the width is about two. The maximum depth of the reservoir is nine meters. The water level changes slightly annually, and in winter the lake freezes completely. One of the significant natural advantages of Lake Plavsko is the abundance of rare fish in its waters. Fishermen will be pleasantly surprised by the impressive amount of trout caught. One of the legends says about the appearance of a lake in this area. According to this legend, on the site of the lake there was once a settlement where Saint Sava spent the night. But the man with whom he stayed unjustly slandered him, after which Savva cursed this settler ("he will carry you away with water"). After this incident, water poured into the settlement from all directions - and this is how Lake Plavskoe appeared. The nearest settlement is the town of Plav, which is predominantly inhabited by Albanians. The proximity of Kosovo does not affect the locals in any way, Plav is a peaceful territory.
