The fortress-like granite Cathedral of Evora began to be built in 1186, consecrated in 1204, and completed only in 1250. Therefore, in its architecture, the Romanesque style was mixed with the Gothic. This is one of the finest medieval cathedrals in Portugal and the largest among them.

The facade of the cathedral is crowned with two asymmetrical towers, and between them there is a sculptural row of the apostles, made in the XIV century.

Pink, black and white marble was used in the interior of the temple. The 18th century altar was created according to the drawings of the architect Ludovisi. The oldest organ in Portugal in the 16th century is located here.
