Photo and descriptionOne of the outstanding achievements of engineering of the last century was the construction in Zimbabwe of the 112-meter Kariba Dam, which blocked the path of the mighty Zambezi River and created one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. The shores of the lake, the area of which is about 5,180 sq. km., famous for its picturesque nature, attracts numerous tourists who come here to sail, go water skiing, sunbathe, catch tiger fish, the population of which is famous for the Kariba, or try their luck in the casino. Commercial fishing is also thriving on Lake Kariba.
