Photo and description

Ludwigstrasse street ends with the Arcade of Generals. It is an open room with 20 meter high arched arcades in the style of the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence. In the arcade, erected by Friedrich von Gertner in 1841-44 by order of Ludwig I, there are bronze monuments in honor of the Bavarian commanders Tili and Wrede. This Bavarian army monument recalls the German-French war of 1870-71.

Feldherrnhalle was the site of Hitler's failed Beer Putsch. As a result, the hall acquired a certain cult status in Nazi propaganda and therefore is closed for inspection.
