G.S. Ulanova was opened to visitors in 2004 in the center of Moscow, in a Stalinist skyscraper on Kotelnicheskaya embankment. The famous ballerina lived in this house for 46 years. At first she lived in a three-room apartment on the ninth floor. From 1986 until the last days of her life, Ulanova lived in an apartment on the sixth floor. In this apartment, by order of the Government of the Russian Federation, on December 17, 2004, the ballerina memorial museum was solemnly opened.

Everything in the apartment has been preserved as it was during Ulanova's lifetime. The museum exposition consists of the ballerina's archive, apartment furnishings and memorabilia. The library contains about 2,400 books. Many of the books are with dedicatory inscriptions. The ballerina's wardrobe is of great interest. It consists of elegantly styled clothing and footwear from the 50-90s of the twentieth century.

G. S. Ulanova graduated from the St. Petersburg Ballet School, having absorbed its traditions. She became a witness and participant in the entire path along which the ballet passed from the Imperial, to the modern, late 20th century. As the leading ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater, Ulanova toured abroad. The first tour abroad with the Bolshoi Theater troupe took place in 1956. The 46-year-old ballerina danced the lead role in Giselle. The hall was attended by such celebrities as Tamara Krasavina, Vivien Leigh, Laurence Olivier, Margot Fontaine. She has received international recognition. Ulanova's performance can rightfully be called "Triumph". No one after Anna Pavlova had such success.
