Photo and descriptionThe Linz Cultural Center is an art institution supported by the Federal State of Upper Austria. The aim of the Cultural Center is to provide space for young artists and, as a result, to develop new trends in contemporary art. The center has over 1,800 square meters of exhibition and production space to implement its projects. The institute features a modern, comprehensive concept of art, as well as many years of experience in the field of artistic production with an emphasis on installation and media art. In addition, the cultural center also collaborates with regional and international art institutions and festivals. Founded in the 80s of the 20th century, this cultural institution in Linz is most proud of its openness to all kinds of experiments. Young creative people have the opportunity to realize their works from the initial idea to its implementation, using for their own purposes the entire rich infrastructure of this center, including a recording studio and a video studio. The Center for Contemporary Art has undergone reconstruction and has been adapted for modern use ... It is based on an old building from the 1930s. During the reconstruction, a spacious hall, a communication center, as well as exhibition and production facilities were developed. The entire reconstruction was carried out according to the project of the architect Piotr Riepl, who was awarded a prize for this project in 1998. The center has become an example of high quality architecture, able to create an intriguing connection between old and new. A large open area appeared in front of the building with an area of 4000 square meters. They did not invite either designers or architects to decorate the interior. It was an independent project “on its own.” The Cultural Center annually hosts from 6 to 8 personal and group exhibitions. The only annual show is the Prix Ars Electronica Music Show, which showcases advances in digital music.
