The Museum of the History and Culture of the Jews of Belarus was founded in 2002 by a group of enthusiastic scientists headed by the museum director Inna Pavlovna Gerasimova with the support of the Union of Belarusian Jewish Public Associations and Communities and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee "Joint" in Belarus. The museum was opened in the building of the Minsk Jewish Community Center at Vera Khoruzhei Street, 28.

Despite its youth, the museum has already managed to collect more than 10 thousand exhibits that tell about culture, art, religion, history of Jews in Belarus. It contains unique documents, photographs, everyday objects, clothes, books, paintings and many other things. There are unique exhibits: a machine for making matzo from Orsha, a mug for washing hands, a ticket, dated 1889 and allowing travel from the Jewish settlement to the rest of the Russian Empire.

The Museum not only collects and carefully preserves the history and culture of Belarusian Jews, but also conducts active propaganda and educational work. People of all ages and nationalities come here to learn more about the Jewish people. The museum collects lists of Jews who died during the Second World War, creates a Book of Memory.

Permanent expositions of the museum are divided into sections: Jews of Belarus XVI - early. XX centuries; Belarusian Jews between the wars. 1917 - June 1941; Holocaust in Belarus. 1941 - 1944; Post-war life of Jews in Belarus; Revival of Jewish life at the end of the 20th century.

During the existence of the museum, more than 35 exhibitions have been held, themes of some of them: “I am from the ghetto”, “Jewish resistance in Belarus. 1941-1944 ”,“ Synagogues of Belarus yesterday and today ”. The museum hosts exhibitions of paintings by Jewish artists.
