The Museum of the History of Jews in Russia resumed its work in 2011. Its founder and director is the writer, detective writer Sergei Ustinov, and the first director of the museum was Leonid Liflyand, a collector and researcher.

The museum was founded after a number of exhibitions held in Moscow and dedicated to the life of the Jewish community in Russia. To date, the collection of the museum has several thousand exhibits, of which only a fourth of them are exhibited for viewing. The permanent exhibition of the museum consists of several parts dedicated to the religious and charitable traditions of the people, holidays, education, professions and crafts, everyday life, as well as the role of Jews in culture and art, in political life.

In particular, here you can get acquainted with the life of Moscow prosperous Jewry of the 19th century, with the way of life of Jews in other large cities of Russia and Europe - Odessa, Warsaw, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Vilnius and others, with the traditions of various Jewish communities. Part of the exposition is devoted to the life of Jews in the Soviet Union.

The rare exhibits in the museum include a carved cabinet for storing Torah scrolls made in the century before last, and the most artistic one is a wedding canopy made of velvet.
