The round-shaped building of St. Paul's Church with a high square tower is a symbol of German democracy and the unity of the nation. Paulskirche was built in 1789 and witnessed meetings of the first German parliament in 1848-1849. Meetings and receptions are now held here, and the Goethe Prize is awarded.
