Rating: 7,8/10 (400 votes) Church of St. Paul – church in Frankfurt am Main, built between 1789 and 1833. There used to be a medieval church on this site, which was demolished in 1786. Until 1944, St. Paul's Church was the main Lutheran church in the city. During the Second World War, the church burned down. Later it was restored. Since 1948, the church has become a national monument as the 'Home of All Germans'. Various social events are increasingly held here, such as celebrations for the German Bookseller Peace Prize, the Goethe Prize. The round church building with a towering square tower has become a symbol of the unity of the German nation and democracy.
