A very beautiful house of the 18th century gives an idea of the life of the Goethe family. The poet was born here on August 28, 1749.

The house was destroyed during World War II, but rebuilt later. The interior of the house has been restored in the style typical of the late 18th century. The table at which Goethe wrote his works has survived.

The Goethe Museum is located in the next building, where a collection of personal belongings and some of his manuscripts are kept.
