Photo and descriptionThe Bergenhus fortress was founded in the Middle Ages, but only fragments of the foundation remained from the original buildings - everything collapsed during the explosion of a ship in the harbor of Bergen in 1944. After the war, two buildings were recreated on the territory of the fortress - the Rosencrantz Tower, named after its architect, and the palace of King Hakon Hakonson, built in the 13th century in the English Gothic style. Particularly noteworthy is the recreated Gothic Hall of the Hakona, where various ceremonies and holidays are still held.
