The official residence of King Harold in Bergen was built at the beginning of the last century. It is located near the center of Bergen next to the Rosencrantz tower, built in 1270. The tower was expanded several times and acted as a strengthening and demonstration of strength.

Externally, the residence resembles a Scottish castle. This impressive building was originally built for the ship owner and former Prime Minister Christian Michalsen. And in 1925 it was acquired by the state and transferred to the disposal of the king. Crown Princes Haakon lived here during his studies at the Naval Academy.

Part of the building is open to tourists.
