The unique Sulabh Museum, located in the Indian capital of New Delhi, is the ideal place for those who want to spend a few hours rewardingly, but at the same time having fun. The fact is that this museum is dedicated to the history of sanitation and toilet.

It was created on the initiative of Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, founder of the environmental volunteer organization Sulabh International, which deals with the problems of alternative energy and waste management, at its main headquarters.

In addition to the entertainment mission, to a greater extent, the museum's collection is intended to draw public attention to the dire sanitary situation that has developed in India at the moment. Especially in small towns and villages where there is no waste water treatment system at all, because of what a dangerous epidemiological situation has developed there.

The museum has a large collection of all kinds of weird and funny toilet accessories, toilets, chamber pots and sinks. The exposition contains specimens from different countries and eras, and by the example of specific items one can trace the development of "toilet" technologies from ancient times to the present. The oldest exhibit dates back to 2500 BC. and the pride of the museum is a replica of the famous throne of the monarch Louis XIV, with a hole in the middle to meet physiological needs. The collection also contains technical innovations specially designed for modern restrooms.
