The Blue Grotto is a unique cave system located on the southern coast of the island of Malta. You can get to it on one of the double-decker tourist buses that carry travelers around the island. However, these buses are rather rare. Therefore, we recommend taking a regular bus to the town of Zurrik and from there walk to the Blue Grotto. It is impossible to get lost there, there are pointers with arrows coordinating the direction of movement to the grotto. Yes, and you will have to go clearly with a large company, because the Blue Grotto is considered one of the most important natural attractions in Malta.

You can look at the cave 45 meters deep from the gorgeous observation deck, arranged right on the rocky cliff. A winding path surrounded by a stone parapet allows you to look at the grotto below from different points. It is best to come here in the morning, because in the afternoon, the sun shining directly into your eyes will make it difficult to take beautiful photos. After admiring the Blue Grotto from the observation deck, walk a little forward along the road, where there is a descent to the cozy harbor. There you can buy a boat tour of the grotto. Nimble boats with travelers on board disturb the azure waters of the grotto and pass several hundred meters along the rocky coast of Malta.

The Blue Grotto has been known to the locals since time immemorial. During the Second World War, families of local fishermen were hiding under its rocks from bombing.
