Photo and description

The Brest Railway Museum was opened on May 15, 2002. The open-air museum contains samples of railway equipment throughout the history of the existence of railways in Belarus.

Especially for the old steam locomotives, the museum has laid special tracks, the standards of which in the past differed from modern standards. Thanks to these special routes, we can now see old steam locomotives in motion. The total length of the museum tracks is 1200 meters. The exposition is located on an area of 29 thousand square meters. meters.

All steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, wagons and other equipment are in excellent working order, which allows them to be used for filming and excursions.

The oldest exhibit in the museum is a 1915 carriage and a 1926 steam locomotive. The Brest Museum has an impressive collection of steam locomotives, diesel locomotives with two- and four-axle cars produced in 1903-1940, as well as two unique steam railway construction cranes.

This rare exposition allows you to trace the development of railway technology in our country from the beginning of the XX century. Among the exhibits there is a diesel locomotive that delivered the delegation to the Potsdam conference.

The construction and repair equipment of railways, as well as military cars from the Great Patriotic War, including a carriage with an anti-aircraft installation, a staff car and an ambulance car, are most fully represented.

In the Brest Railway Museum, exhibits can be viewed not only from the outside, but also from the inside. The caretakers will tell you about the design of each piece of equipment in the museum.
