Photo and description

The Museum of the Moscow Railway is located on three different sites, where various exhibits are concentrated - from models to real carriages and life-size locomotives. Three sites of the museum are located on Kozhevnicheskaya street (near the Paveletsky railway station), on the square of the Rizhsky railway station and in the Podmoskovnaya depot. The first is the historical section of the museum, the second is a full-scale platform with life-size exhibits, the third is a recreated station from the beginning of the last century.

The museum near the Paveletsky railway station was transformed from a small museum-pavilion, which was called "V. AND. Lenin ". Its first and main exhibit was and remains a steam locomotive with a carriage that brought the body of the leader of the world proletariat, who died in Gorki, to Moscow. The locomotive was built in 1910, decommissioned in 1937, and in 1999 was recognized as a monument of science and technology of the Russian Federation.

The pavilion was closed for renovations, and opened in August 2011 in a new capacity, with a new collection and an increased area. The area of this part of the museum is 1800 sq. meters, the building is adjacent to a park with an area of about one and a half hectares. In addition to Lenin's train, you can see here a large and detailed model of the Kazan station with railway tracks, trains and electric trains on them, cars, miniature Muscovites and guests of the capital. Among the exhibits there are uniforms, awards and tools of railway workers, documents, drawings, a working model of the high-speed train "Sapsan", reconstruction of old compartments and offices. The railway exhibits are supplemented with newsreels.

The second site of the museum was opened in the summer of 2004 near the Rizhsky railway station. Its area is about three hectares, on which 60 units of real railway equipment act as exhibits: steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, electric locomotives, "teplushka" and sanitary cars, special equipment. The railway crossing is presented here, though in the form of a model, but made in full size. Many of the museum's exhibits took part in the filming of Russian historical films, for example, in the film "Admiral".
