Photo and description

The Baranovichi Museum of Railway Engineering was opened on December 14, 1984 at the initiative of the head of the Belarusian Railways Rakhmanko V.G. and with the active participation of a veteran railway worker Malyugin I.N. The museum has two branches: the Museum of the History of the Baranovichi branch of the Belarusian Railway and the Museum of railway equipment in the city of Baranovichi.

The first section of the museum contains the most interesting documentation, photographic materials, uniforms of railway workers, their tools, and railway household items. Here you can trace the history of the development of the railway from the first steam locomotives to the present day.

The second section is an open-air museum, where the most interesting and rare railway equipment is collected: steam locomotives, locomotives, wagons.

The city of Baranovichi was born thanks to the railway, which the grateful citizens decided to mention even in their coat of arms - it depicts a steam locomotive. In 1871, thanks to the opening of the Smolensk-Brest branch, a small station Baranovichi was built, which later acquired enterprises serving the railway, and later the city grew. The city also flourished through trade.

On the honorary pedestal at the entrance to the museum, there is a half-size model of a "B" series steam locomotive. It was with such a steam locomotive that the Belarusian Railway began, when on November 28, 1871, it first proceeded with the first train from Smolensk through Baranovichi to Brest.

The museum contains the largest collection of old steam locomotives. All equipment is in excellent condition. Every year people from all over the world come specially,
