Photo and descriptionThe Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Dagomys is a functioning church belonging to the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. The first Orthodox church in Dagomys was built in 1912-1917. for local residents, staff and patients of the hospital and the Tsar's estate. In the early 40s. the temple could not withstand the onslaught of revolutionary events and by 1956 it was completely destroyed. The real revival of the church began only with the collapse of the Soviet Union. In 1992, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan (at that time Archbishop) of Yekaterinodar and Kuban Isidor, at a village meeting, it was decided to create an Orthodox community. For the first six years the church was located on Gaidar Street in an old building, built in pre-revolutionary times. In 1998, by decision of the city administration and the Dagomys tea farm, a land plot was allocated on Armavirskaya street for the construction of a new church. The author of the project was the architect B. Babakov. In 2000, the first services were held in the newly erected church. The temple complex consists of a two-storey temple with an upper main and lower baptismal temple and ancillary rooms. The lower, baptismal church, was consecrated in honor of Saint Sava of Serbia. Thus, gratitude was expressed to the Serbian builders who live and work in Sochi, as well as to the people who unselfishly helped and continue to help in the construction of the church. There are several ancient icons in the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, among them painted in Jerusalem, an ancient icon of the holy martyrs Alexandra, Irina, We also recommend reading Rastorguev-Kharitonov estate description and photo - Russia - Ural: Yekaterinburg Topic: Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God description and photo - Russia - South: Dagomys. |
