Photo and descriptionThe Artillery Museum of Finland is a military history museum, originally founded in 1977 in the village of Niinisalo in a closed school building, has been reopened after being moved to Hameenlinna. The building of the Fortress Barracks was allocated in a new place for the museum in 1997. The main exhibition is located in a three-story building. The first floor is dedicated to the history of artillery from the beginning of the 15th century, when Finland was part of the Kingdom of Sweden until autonomy and the Civil War of Independence in 1918. The Hall of Glory to the Fatherland keeps military awards of the country's defenders. The second floor is occupied by an exposition dedicated to the period of the beginning of independence (1919), the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-40. and World War II 1941-45. The showcase of the museum contains the military uniform of the tallest Finnish artilleryman, whose height is 2m 26 cm. You can also see a model of a 1940 model cannon here.
