Photo and description

The striking Piazza di Spagna is located in the southern part of Seville in the beautiful Maria Luisa Park, created by a group of eminent landscape artists in 1928 for an international exhibition.

The square is a magnificent semicircular ensemble, designed by the architect Anibal Gonzalez. The square is decorated in the neo-Mudejar style and the art deco style popular in the 20s of the 20th century.

In the center of the Plaza de Espana, there is a large fountain. The square is surrounded by significant buildings, including the Municipality of Seville, as well as old mansions that today house the city's museums. One of the museums is occupied by an archaeological collection, among the exhibits of which are rare ancient Roman mosaics and other artifacts, related to that era.

Located on the square, the government building, made in the shape of a semicircle, has special niches dedicated to the Spanish provinces. In each of the niches, there is an amazingly beautiful panel made of colored ceramic tiles depicting an event related to the history of a particular province.

A picturesque canal, 1.2 meters deep, filled with water, stretches across the entire Plaza de Espana, along which you can take a boat ride. There are tiled bridges across the canal, the railings of which are decorated with amazing blue and white patterns.

The magnificent Plaza de Espana in Seville is a must-see for everyone who enters this city, striking in its beauty and richness of history.
