Patenga Beach is located about twenty kilometers from Chittagong and close to major attractions and infrastructure, including Shah Amanat International Airport and Isha Khan Naval Base.

It starts from the mouth of the Karnaphuli River and stretches to the Bay of Bengal. Suppliers from the city flock to the beach to sell different types of ice cream, soft drinks and treats (the specialty is clay-baked crabs) for hundreds of Bangladeshi guests who come to Patenga Beach.

The beach itself is long, sandy, with small stony blotches in different places. Many visitors come to Patenga Beach to watch the stunning sunsets and sunrises. Boat cruises on the Karnaphuli River or on the ocean waves are offered to those who wish. Nature lovers will find many species of marsh birds on Patenga beach.
