Photo and description

The Yuksam Building is located on Yeouido Island. The building was designed by the American architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. The company was founded in 1936, and since the 50s of the twentieth century it has been engaged in the design of skyscrapers, on which it has earned world fame.

The height of the skyscraper is about 250 meters. Construction began in 1980, and the opening took place in 1985. The skyscraper was considered the tallest building in South Korea until 2003, when the Hyperion tower complex was built, one of which was higher than the skyscraper.

The Yuksam Building was a landmark during the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. "Yuxam" is translated from Korean as "63", so the skyscraper is called Yuxam Building or "building 63". Although this is not entirely correct, since the building has 60 floors, 61-63 floors are closed rooms.

The skyscraper houses the headquarters of many famous Korean financial and insurance companies, banks, and others.

The Yuxam Building has the world's highest observation deck from where visitors can see Seoul. On floors 58-59, there are restaurants where you can taste not only national dishes, but also enjoy stunning panoramic views. The skyscraper is served by 6 high-speed elevators (speed - 54 m / s), there are also shops (over a hundred), a cinema and a large aquarium in the building. The area of the aquarium is more than 3500 square meters, where visitors can see penguins, moray eels, otters, crocodiles, there are piranhas and electric eels.
