Photo and descriptionSchmittenhehe is an alpine peak 1965 meters above sea level, located in the Kitzbuhel Alps, in central Austria, in the federal state of Salzburg, 290 km from Vienna. Mount Schmittenhehe rises above the village of Zell am See, a famous winter sports resort. The slopes of this peak have long been crossed out by well-maintained ski slopes of various difficulty levels. 6 funiculars, 9 chairlifts and 7 drag lifts bring vacationers to the top of the mountain. Mount Schmittenhehe is surrounded by the same mountain peaks, often without names, heaps of rocks and glaciers. 15.2 km south of it is the region's highest peak, Hoher Tenn, 3368 meters above sea level. The slopes of Schmittenhehe are overgrown with mixed forest. The mountain region is rather sparsely populated. According to experts, 34 people live here per 1 square kilometer. The average annual temperature in the vicinity of the mountain is 2 degrees Celsius. The warmest month is July, when the air warms up to 14 degrees. In winter, temperatures drop to -10 degrees Celsius. It mostly rains in August. The driest month is March.
