Hong Kong Park was opened in May 1991 and covers an area of 80,000 square meters. m and is an example of modern design and convenience, harmoniously complementing the natural landscape.

In the colonial period, from about 1841, this area was called Cantonmen Hill. The Victoria barracks were located in its upper part; their construction took place in 1867-1910. The territories occupied by them were transferred to the city administration in 1979. Until 1988, the landscape and architectural complex housed the buildings of the Gleneli Junior School. After the school moved, the entire area was turned into a real park.

The park was a corporate project of the city council and the Royal Jockey Club of Hong Kong. Through their efforts, Several historic buildings have been preserved on the territory.
