The corner tower, located behind the former Dvur Meysky (City Courtyard), attracts attention not only by its power and grandeur of the building, but also by the fact that, together with two other towers located along adjacent (Schulz Tower and Beer Tower), forms one structure, called the House of Scouts.

With the construction of the Corner Tower, named so for its location, the construction of defensive fortifications in the north and east of the city began. Some parts of these fortress walls have survived to this day. Active construction dates back to 1343. Local celebrity Jan Strakovsky was the author of the fortification project.

Since the tower was located at the intersection of two high walls, it was given a slightly strange shape: a quadrangle with beveled corners. At first, its design assumed open access to the premises in it, that is, the tower did not have one facade. However, soon the wall from the side of the city also appeared. The tower was subjected to alterations many times, it was strengthened and rebuilt. If you look at the tower from the side of Boguslavsky Street, you can see in its upper part a hood with holes for the guns of the city's defenders. The tower had a simple pentagonal roof.

In 1856-1857, the Gdansk fire brigade was housed in the Corner Tower.

During the battles of 1945, this building lost its roof, one facade and all interior items. It completely burned out from the inside. The restoration began in the late 1950s and lasted for several years. Now the Corner Tower is part of the old defensive fortifications of the city and as such is shown to all tourists.
