Central Park of Culture and Leisure. M. Gorky is the main park of the city of Kharkov. It was founded back in 1893 under the original name - Zagorodny Nikolaevsky Park. Its grand opening for visitors took place 14 years later - in 1907. The total area of the park is 136 hectares.

From the very beginning, the park made an incredible impression on its first visitors. Linden and chestnut alleys united in the form of an elongated ring looked like the paths of the Bois de Boulogne and were intended for horse rides.

In 1938, after the death of the writer M. Gorky, the park was renamed in his honor. In 1980, the sculptor L. Ye. Belostotsky erected a monument to this famous writer.

The park has become one of the main places for recreation and entertainment, where festivities and mass celebrations took place. The territory housed various attractions, the Malaya Yuzhnaya children's railway, the Park cinema, tennis courts, a cable car and many other entertainment facilities.

In 2006, on the City Day, in front of the main entrance, from the street. Sumy, the colonnade, demolished in 2001, was restored, the fountain was restored, and the monument to M. Gorky, dismantled in the late 90s, was restored to its original place.

Since the beginning of spring 2011, the park was closed for general reconstruction. And already in 2012, a renovated park with a modern entertainment complex was opened.

The park has all the conditions for recreation and entertainment for both adults and the smallest visitors. There are various attractions on its territory, among them - a roller coaster, the largest Ferris wheel in Ukraine, a complex for fans of extreme sports, an autodrome, a rollerdrome, a pond with boats, gazebos, a zoo, a cafe, decorative structures and other entertainment facilities.
