Photo and descriptionZimbabwe is a country rich in specimens of rock art. The Rock Art Department of the Department of Stone Age Archaeological Findings in Harare maintains an official list of over 2,000 caves and mural sites available. The most famous and impressive of these is the Nsvatugi cave in the Matopos region in the west of the country, where you can see stunning examples of rock art by ancient masters. Nswatuga's drawings are considered some of the most outstanding in Africa. In the same area there are also interesting caves of Silozvane, Bambata and Pomongwe. Prehistoric drawings on stone walls, ledges and ceilings can be found almost throughout Zimbabwe, and how many more caves with drawings remain undiscovered remains a mystery to everyone.
