The Arch of Augustus is a monument preserved from the time of the Roman Empire. The arch was erected in 27 BC. after the construction of the road between Rome and the Adriatic coast was completed. The main facade of the arch, on which the inscription `` Golden Gate '' has been preserved, faces towards Rome. During the Middle Ages, the arch was used as a city gate in the fortress walls, fragments of which have survived to this day.
