Tiburtine Gate in Italy, Rome resort
Rating: 7,6/10 (100 votes)  The Tiburtine Gate is one of the gates of the Aurelian Wall. Previously, the Tiburtine road passed through the gate leading to the city of Tibur, later Tivoli. The gate is a monumental arch built of travertine, in which the aqueducts Aqua Tepula, Aqua Marcia and Aqua Iulia were connected, crossing the Tiburtinskaya road. The arch was erected in 5 BC. under Emperor Augustus. In 271, during the construction of the Aurelian wall, the arch was built into the wall, later two towers were completed, after which the arch became the city gate.
